Hoosiers Need Workforce Housing--Act Now
We asked for your help last week and now we REALLY need it. Indiana House Bill 1625, which simply asks state and local governments to examine the cost impact on housing of new regulations and ordinances, is important to REALTORS┬« and our clients. The bill has the support of a broad coalition of REALTORS┬«, affordable housing advocates, home builders, and employers. HB 1625 was originally brought forward by IAR in response to growing concerns from both state and local officials over low inventory of workforce housing. The bill has been significantly amended, in response to objections raised by local governments, to remove a local housing affordability report they deemed too costly. But some very loud voices from both county and municipal governments still oppose HB 1625 because they do not want to have to state the impact their decisions will have on the cost of housing. Our local government officials should not be afraid of transparency.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TODAY. Please ask your State Representative to support House Bill 1625.

Legislators are hearing daily from their local elected officials who do not want to say when an ordinance they pass will impact the cost of housing. Let your REALTOR┬« voice be heard just as loud that affordable and attainable workforce housing is important to our clients, our employers, and our communities.

Please act today. The final vote in the Indiana House of Representatives will be Monday afternoon, February 18. Your State Representative needs to hear from you. Please ask your State Representative to support House Bill 1625.
