Help Get the Patient Access to Pharmacy Act Signed
The Patient Access to Pharmacy Act (PAPA), A5882/S5939, has passed both houses of the New York State Legislature. Now we need Governor Kathy Hochul to sign it into law.
IPC is working alongside the Pharmacy Society of the State of New York (PSSNY) to build support for this important legislation and make sure Governor Hochul hears directly from the independent pharmacy community and the patients who rely on it.
PAPA would help protect patient access to neighborhood pharmacies at a time when below-cost reimbursement and continued pharmacy closures are putting local pharmacy care at risk across New York.
We need pharmacy owners and their teams to take two actions:
- Get your patients involved. Download and print the patient flyer and display it in your pharmacy. Encourage patients to scan the QR code and send a message to Governor Hochul asking her to sign the Patient Access to Pharmacy Act.
Download and Print the Patient Flyer
- Make your voice heard. Pharmacy owners, pharmacists, technicians and staff should also send a message through VoterVoice urging Governor Hochul to sign PAPA. When possible, personalize your message with examples of how below-cost reimbursement, pharmacy closures or patient access challenges are affecting your pharmacy and community.
Your patients know what their local pharmacy means to their community. Now is the time to make sure Albany hears from them, and from you.
