The Governor wants to sign the tax cuts passed by Senate; House needs to act!
The Iowa Senate passed two bills removing the level and growth triggers and deliver our promised income tax rate cuts.
- Senate File 576 will cut state income taxes and eliminate the inheritance tax.
- Senate File 587 will cut state income taxes and reduce property taxes.
Governor Reynolds said, “I was pleased that the Senate voted unanimously (SF 576) to remove these triggers and look forward to signing the final bill making these significant tax cuts a reality for Iowans.”
It's now up to the Iowa House to send these bills to the Governor's desk. However, Speaker Pat Grassley expressed concern about the Senate’s legislation (SF 576) and said, "We'd like to work towards that, but you know, they may be a little bit more aggressive, and we wouldn't be interested at this point."
Well, taxpayers are interested in keeping money in their pockets!
