Support Workplace Learning by Creating Workplace Language Course Codes
As Indiana focuses on work-based learning, high schools and institutes of higher education are looking at employability skills.  Two of the critical skills that companies are seeking in current and future employees are language skills and global competencies.  Indiana Foreign Language Teachers Association (IFLTA) is seeking to include Workplace World Language courses in the 2026-2027 Course Catalog for high school students.  This week the Indiana Dept. of Education took the Workplace Spanish Course off of the 2026 Catalog.  This is going to further hinder teachers seeking to sustain their 3rd and 4th year programs based on the new High School Redesign which only requires 2 years of language instruction for the Enrollment Seal, in comparison to the 3-4 years required under the previous Academic Honors Diploma.  Please write the Indiana General Assembly now to ensure that these course codes are put back in the Course Catalog for the 2026-2027 school year.
