It's critical that you contact your Senators TODAY to support SB 139.
Senator Jimmy Higdon (R-Lebanon) has filed SB 139 that would make sweeping changes to the pharmacy reimbursement process for commercial insurance and Medicaid managed care plans.
- Prohibit insurance plans from recouping fees after the point-of-sale.
- Give patients the ability to choose their pharmacy of choice whether it is brick-and-mortar or mail-order pharmacy.
- No longer require pharmacies to get special accreditations in order to dispense specialty medications, beyond what is required by the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy.
Senate Bill 139 is an expression of frustration experienced by KPhA on behalf of its members across the Commonwealth with the ‘black box’ of pharmacy reimbursements and the continued lack of transparency in how pharmacies are reimbursed.
