Advocating to advance the arts, archaeology, historic preservation and community revitalization at the local, state and federal levels

Save our Historic Tax Credit!

The federal Historic Tax Credit (HTC) is important to me and to my community and to our state in generating jobs and attracting investment dollars. We urge that you help us maintain this powerful economic development tool during the tax reform debate.

Louisiana is a national leader in historic preservation. Since FY 2002 the HTC has created more than 38,000 jobs and led to over $2.1 billion in development in our state alone.
The HTC is the most significant investment the federal government makes to preserve our nation's underutilized, historic properties and is a vital economic development tool for the revitalization of blighted areas across the nation. The credit has leveraged more than $131 billion in private investment, created more than 2.4 million jobs, and rehabilitated more than 42,000 historic buildings for new and productive uses. The program spurs economic growth, generating $1.20 in revenue for every $1.00 in credits.
The federal HTC has been extremely important to our state's economic development and cultural preservation. Please work with your colleagues, Chairman Brady and Chairman Hatch to ensure the federal HTC is protected during tax reform.
