Tell Governor Murphy And The State Legislature, No New Boat Tax!
At the end of August, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy introduced his budget for 2021.  In it, he proposed repealing the sales tax cap on boat sales as one of the ways to cover the budget shortfall.

Recreational boating contributes $6.6 billion in economic impact to the State of New Jersey, sustaining 1,192 marine industry small businesses, that employ over 28,000 people.  The governor’s proposal is a direct threat to the marine industry.

If the sales tax cap is repealed, it will increase the tax on boat sales, driving potential future sales to neighboring states and ultimately hurting New Jersey based small businesses.
