Don't tax my credit union – it's a tax on the 140 million Americans who rely on credit unions every day. Credit unions are here for people, not profits. As member-owned, not-for-profit cooperatives, credit unions are the backbone of Main Street America, giving back to communities and families through competitive returns on savings, low to no fees, and reduced loan rates.

The value credit unions provide is undeniable. The benefits credit unions offer to members and the economic return to the communities they serve far outweigh the amount of federal tax revenue they’d generate - more than eight times the amount. Getting rid of our tax exemption would:

• Reduce GDP by $266 billion
• Cut 822,000 jobs
• Cost the federal government $33 billion in lost tax revenue over the next 10 years

As a credit union member-owner myself, I urge you to reject these calls to tax credit unions. Please protect the tax-exempt status of credit unions and ensure my credit union can continue to be a strong financial partner for communities across America.
