ALERT: PROTECT the Hyde Amendment! -- Contact your Members of Congress today!

In the ongoing budget negotiations, swing Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) has announced that he will NOT support a reconciliation bill that repeals the Hyde Amendment, a federal provision that prohibits taxpayer funds from paying for abortion in the United States!

This is GREAT news, especially considering the U.S. Senate's 50/50 split, and Sen. Manchin's unique position as a make-or-break vote due to his longtime status as a moderate Democrat.

But that doesn't mean we should become complacent, or that the Hyde Amendment is safe...

Indeed, congressional Democrats have their sights set on Hyde, and are ready to fight for a future where abortion is free, on-demand, and without restriction in our country.

We need YOUR help to ensure that never happens!!

Can we count on YOU to send a message to your federal lawmakers -- both in the House and the Senate -- stressing the importance of keeping the Hyde Amendment, and urging them to oppose any legislation that would repeal or remove this protection and force taxpayers to fund abortion in our country?

You can reach your members of Congress in one easy step using this simple contact form (see right) that we're making available here on LifeSite's Action Center.

With one click, your message is sent directly to their offices without having to look up any contact details.

Then, please SHARE this important information with your friends and family members to spread the word across our country!

Sen. Manchin has referred to himself in the past as "pro-life, and proud of it," so it's little wonder that a provision in U.S. law as crucial as Hyde has his full support.

The Hyde Amendment, which was originally introduced by Congressman Henry Hyde of Illinois as a federal budget provision and approved by Congress in 1976 (after Roe v. Wade), ensures that no taxpayer dollars will ever go towards funding abortions in America.

The Supreme Court confirmed its constitutionality in 1980 and it has been renewed by Congress as an annual budget provision in every fiscal year since.

Yet even with the support of a wide majority of Americans (A 2021 Marist survey found that number to be 58%), this historically non-controversial law has become ground zero in the radical left's effort to make abortion without regulation the law of the land in our country.

This plan includes effectively reversing all state bans and limits, including those which are already in place (the subject of congressional Democrats' ironically-named "Women's Health Protection Act" -- learn more HERE) in order to make all abortion, for any and every reason and at any point during a pregnancy, legal and accessible anywhere in the United States.

With that in mind, Hyde is one of the final hurdles that leftists will have to overcome to see this plan through.

And what better source of funding than the American taxpayer?

As we've made clear before: The radical left makes no secret about its desire to make unfettered abortion access the new normal in America, even if it means trampling on states' rights and legalizing the killing of unborn children up until the moment of birth.

Free, on-demand, and without restriction -- that's the goal. And they want YOU to pay for it.

Congressional Democrats are ready to break with decades of tradition and the most basic of ethical standards by getting rid of the Hyde Amendment. And even with Sen. Manchin's announcement that he would only support a budget reconciliation bill that includes Hyde, that doesn't mean that his colleagues still won't try to repeal it by any means necessary, be it now or in the future.

That's why we need YOU, now more than ever, to be a strong voice for the unborn and for the American taxpayer.

Please take a few minutes to contact your U.S. Senators and Congressman/woman today, and urge them to oppose ANY budget reconciliation bill that does not include the Hyde Amendment, this fiscal year or in any future fiscal year.

American taxpayers have a right to know that their dollars will not go towards funding the killing of innocent, unborn children, and the Hyde Amendment has been ensuring this principle stands under U.S. law since 1980. It should continue to serve this most important purpose for generations to come.

Thank you!
