After the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of Texas's Heartbeat Law, other states have begun to follow their-lead in the ongoing legislative (and spiritual) battle to protect life, and Oklahoma is one of them!
Join this campaign to urge members of the State Legislature to support HB 4327, and SHARE it with friends and family members!
House Bill (HB) 4327, which was approved by the House Public Health Committee, effectively bans abortions in the state of Oklahoma except in instances where the life of the mother would be at risk. You can learn more about this bill by clicking HERE.
It now moves onto the full House of Representatives where, should it be approved, the bill will then go to the Senate for further review and consideration, and our lawmakers need to know that Oklahomans support this life-saving legislation. Please JOIN and SHARE this campaign today!
HB 4327 expressly states that "a physician may not knowingly perform or induce an abortion on a pregnant woman, unless such abortion is performed to save the life of the mother."
Its provisions would be enforced exclusively through private civil actions against those who "[aid] or [abet] the performance or inducement of an abortion, including paying for or reimbursing the costs of an abortion through insurance or otherwise," with minimum damages set at $10,000.
Texas's similar law, which went into effect in September after the Supreme Court ruled in its favor, has reduced the number of abortions in the state by nearly 60%, and HB 4327 has the potential to produce a similar result here in Oklahoma. While our lawmakers shouldn't rest until all abortion is outlawed, this would still be a strong step in the right direction, and the bill needs our support as soon as possible!
Momentum is on the side of the pro-life movement across our country, and it's time for individual states to take notice and take action!
Please take this opportunity to add your voice to this effort, and urge your state legislators to support HB 4327 when it comes before them for a vote!
