Oppose Amendments to Undo the HALT Drunk Driving Law
The U.S. House of Representatives is deciding today (Thursday, January 22) to undo the HALT Drunk Driving Law. Please help MADD immediately defeat any chance of this dangerous amendment passing!

What is the HALT Drunk Driving Law? In 2021, Congress passed the bipartisan HALT Drunk Driving Act as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The law directs the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to create a rule requiring all new passenger vehicles to have built-in technology to prevent drunk driving.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) estimates this bipartisan law when implemented will save over 10,000 lives each year.

Every year, more than 12,000 people are killed by drunk driving, and hundreds of thousands more are seriously injured. Anti-drunk driving technology will prevent these tragedies before they occur.  For more details go to madd.org/HALT
