In October 2023, the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) sent a proposal with final regulations to eliminate menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars to the Biden Administration for approval. They have consistently supported this plan and must approve and issue this lifesaving regulation.   The scientific evidence to support these regulations is overwhelming.

• FLAVORED TOBACCO IS KEY IN YOUTH USE AND ADDICTION

Youth, Black Americans and other communities are targets of tobacco companies with menthol cigarettes and other flavored tobacco products.  These products are easier for youth to start using, more addictive and harder to quit than regular cigarettes. Inexpensive, flavored cigars come in hundreds of sweet flavors and are now the second most popular tobacco product among youth. The stakes couldn’t be higher. We are close to ending the sale of menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars; a monumental step to address health inequities and curtail the tobacco industry’s targeting of Black Americans and youth. Therefore, we need your support in getting the FDA's proposal approved by President Biden.

Communities across the country are moving to end the sale of flavored e-cigarettes, which are fueling the youth nicotine addiction crisis.  In 2020, Massachusetts became the first state to ban the sale of all flavored tobacco products, including menthol cigarettes.
