Recently Democratic members of the State Senate proposed a new election bill and passed it soon after on October 6th on strictly party lines. The bill would do a lot of harm to election integrity, including making vote by mail permanent and enacting SAME DAY voter registration.
Even without the passage of this legislation, any voter can already vote by mail by completing a no excuse absentee vote by mail request with their municipal clerk’s office. What this bill does, is require the Secretary of the Commonwealth to mail all registered voters applications for mail ballots before July 15th in even numbered years, and allows voters to request mail ballots for every election INDEFINITELY.
The Senate Democratic press conference announcing the bill included Senators Diana DiZoglio and Sonia Chang-Diaz, both of whom are running for higher office and are involved in competitive Democratic primaries. The Democratic Senate bill, S.2545, was only co-sponsored by Democratic members of the legislature.
Now, it's up to the House to pass or reject these partisan attacks on voter integrity.
Massachusetts shouldn’t have to compromise the integrity of its elections permanently, so that politicians can score cheap points in an insider party primary election.
Send an email to your elected officials telling them NOT to support this bill!
