Support Child Abuse Prevention Month this April

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. It is an important time to remind ourselves and Congress that mentoring relationships and positive youth development cannot happen without prioritizing youth safety. The Child Protection Improvements Act (CPIA) is a critical step in ensuring that safety comes first when it comes to young people.

The bipartisan Child Protection Improvements Act provides access to all youth serving organizations to run national FBI fingerprint background checks on their volunteers and employees in a timely manner.  FBI fingerprint background checks are a critical component of a comprehensive background check, but thousands of organizations don't have access or cannot afford them.

This month as you consider what you can do to prevent child abuse, we ask that you send a message to Congress asking them to co-sponsor the Child Protection Improvements Act and make youth safety the first on their list of priorities.
