Meals on Wheels America, alongside 23 national nonprofit organizations, sent a letter to President Biden urging the administration to correct a longstanding inequity in how the federal government reports wage and employment data through the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Specifically, the letter requests that President Biden include $4 million in the President’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 budget request for the BLS Office of Employment and Unemployment Statistics, for the purpose of incorporating nonprofit organizations in the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW).
