In a highly politicized move, the U.S. Department of Education is proposing to add the words sexual orientation and gender identity to the definition of sex as it pertains to protecting women and young girls under Title IX rules. This radical redefinition of sex is a game changer for females across America.
For over fifty years, Title IX has been shielding young girls and women from unfair practices at publicly funded schools and universities. Adding sexual orientation and gender identity will wipe that all away. This “new” definition would require schools and universities to allow biological males— males whose natural, physical characteristics predispose them to outperform females in strength, power, and speed—to compete against females in women’s sports or risk losing federal funding.
Half of America’s governors realize the absurdity of placing young girls and women at such a disadvantage. Together, they sent a letter to the Department of Education asking them to withdraw this proposed change and step back from this egregious federal overreach.
