Support Veterans and Science: Contact Congress about VA Dog Studies

Dear Friends of Biomedical Research,

Congress is considering legislation that targets important dog studies at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This legislation could negatively affect the future of medicine for veterans and civilians alike.

VA Secretary David Shulkin, MD, the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA), The American Legion, Friends of VA (FOVA), the Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), the Association of the U.S. Navy (AUSN), National Defense Committee, Square Deal for Veterans, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the American Brain Coalition (ABC), the American Physiological Society (APS), and the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) have already stated their opposition with this legislation. Now is your opportunity to join them by voicing your concerns.

We encourage you to take a few minutes to send this pre-formatted letter to your Representative and Senators voicing your concerns about H.R.3197 (the PUPPERS Act) and a similar amendment offered by Rep. Dave Brat (R-VA) in the homeland security minibus.

This letter explains the consequences of the legislation as well as the many significant medical discoveries resulting from research with dogs.

PLEASE STAND WITH SCIENCE AND VETERANS BY SENDING THIS LETTER TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVE AND SENATORS.
