Urge Legislators to Cosponsor Liability Protection Legislation
Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, convenience stores across the United States have remained open to provide Americans access to fuel, food, and other necessities. Designated as an essential industry, our retailers have taken substantial measures to protect both guests and employees serving on the front lines from spreading this contagious virus.

However, despite these best efforts, many are concerned that our industry will be the target of lawsuits alleging that coronavirus was contracted in one of our stores. The high cost of such litigation would be devastating.

NACS supports H.R. 7528, the Get America Back to Work Act, as it would provide limited liability protections to businesses acting in good faith to protect individuals from the spread of the coronavirus. This bipartisan legislation would not protect bad actors, but those who have made their best efforts to comply with federal, state, and local guidance.

Take action today and tell your legislators to cosponsor H.R. 7528. Our industry has taken extraordinary steps to protect guests and employees, and we must be protected from unfounded litigation during this crisis.

If your legislator is already a cosponsor, a thank you email will be generated.
