Congressional leaders are beginning to take requests from their constituents on funding for programs in fiscal year 2027. Through the annual appropriations process, Congress determines funding for discretionary priorities across the government, including key early childhood programs like Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG), Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS), Preschool Development Grants Birth through Five (PDG B-5), Head Start and IDEA preschool special education and early intervention.
Affordable, high-quality care and education are essential to help young children thrive and develop while allowing families to go to work. And the early childhood educators who serve them need resources to be able to support both themselves and the children in their care in an optimal way. NAEYC and our partners are working hard to lift up the needs of early educators and families in conversations with Congressional offices.
