NEW JERSEY CALL TO ACTION: Oppose Prevailing Wage Mandate – A 1571 / A1576
Your Action is Needed to Stop Legislation to Impose Prevailing Wage on Private Projects that Receive Public Tax Abatements or Tax Exemptions.
Nearly two weeks ago, we informed you that the Assembly Labor Committee favorably released legislation that,  among other things, would require the use of prevailing wage for projects with PILOT agreements.  We believe there is momentum to move this bill through the Legislature in the near future, and that Governor Murphy would likely sign the bill.
There is chatter that A1571/A1576, the prevailing wage mandate on PILOTs bill will be considered in the Assembly Appropriation Committee sometime at the end of February or early March. I urge you to reach out to your state legislators and all the mayors of the municipalities, in which you have completed projects or have projects underway with PILOTs, and inform them that if this legislation becomes law, future projects will not be feasible and, therefore, contaminated sites will remain fallow and vacant property with not be redeveloped.

Use the letter tool on the right side of the screen to identify your legislators and send an email directly (NAIOP New Jersey will also receive a copy). Or, copy and paste the message on your company's letterhead to send your message via hard copy.
