The Trump Administration's FY2027 budget request for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) proposes the elimination of several critical rural health programs, echoing last year's budget proposal. Programs slated for elimination include the State Offices of Rural Health, Rural Hospital Flexibility Grants, and various workforce programs– Primary Care Training and Enhancement, Nurse Education, Practice, and Retention, and many others.
It is important to note that the programs proposed for elimination last year were ultimately funded by Congress due to strong push back from the rural health community. This is in part thanks to NARHC member advocacy efforts, and so your voices are needed once again to ensure that these programs are not eliminated.
Please message your legislators here to ensure these vital rural health programs remain funded in FY2027.
