Ask Congress to support robust rental assistance for renters and housing providers
On September 1st, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued an order to halt residential evictions through December 31 to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. Without a robust emergency rental assistance program, this moratorium will ultimately harm the very people it aims to help as it will be impossible for housing providers to meet their financial obligations and continue to provide shelter to their residents.

The eviction moratorium and the lack of a robust emergency rental assistance plan could destabilize the entire rental housing sector. Without rental assistance, property owners are being mandated to shoulder a financial burden that could lead to the greatest rental housing crisis of our lifetime.

Take time today to ask Congress to enact robust rental assistance paid directly to housing providers to ensure providers, especially small operators, can continue to pay their bills even if residents stop paying their rent.
