SUCCESS! Oppose Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners Repeal
Action Alert

NBCC needs your help in opposing Arizona House Bill 2406, which would eliminate licensure for professional counselors and abolish the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.

HB 2406 would repeal licensure for counselors in Arizona and disrupt employment and reimbursement in the state. State and federal programs, such as Medicaid or the Veterans Administration, require a license for employment, so HB 2406 would eliminate those job opportunities. Further, counselors could not receive reimbursement through insurance companies or managed care organizations, which also require a license.

The citizens of Arizona will suffer because there will be no regulation of professional counseling and no mechanism for disciplining unethical behavior. Access to behavioral health care will become even more inaccessible and clients will go untreated because of this bill. Arizona counselors need to contact your state legislators TODAY to oppose HB 2406!

UPDATE: This bill is officially dead for the session! Read more here.
