Your immediate action is need to advocate for LB295!
Every single child in Nebraska deserves to go to a school that best suits his or her needs, regardless of income. Hundreds of students are turned away each year due to lack of scholarship funds for private education. This year, the Nebraska Legislature faces an opportunity to change this reality and bring hope to low- and middle-income families across the state.
At the School Choice Week Rally last Thursday, January 25, Senator Lou Ann Linehan announced that she will select LB295 as her 2018 senator priority bill. Initially introduced by Senator Jim Smith, LB295 provides private school scholarships for low-income and working-class students. Thanks to Senator Linehan's "priority" designation, LB295 will definitely be debated on the floor, making it the first "education choice" legislation to be debated in over 25 years!
But we need YOUR help to get this bill across the finish line. Our Legislature wants and needs to hear from you and understand the need for more opportunity for kids who need it the most. This bill will empower parents, and give a fighting chance to Nebraska's poor and working-class children.
Our bishops have written and spoken about the importance of this bill and how it can positively impact our state. Read their columns on our website (Archbishop Lucas, Bishop Conley, Bishop Hanefeldt).
Send a message to your state senator TODAY to show your support for this important education choice policy.
Thank you for your tireless advocacy!
