Take Action now: Tell the Trump Administration to protect American built boats

The recent announcement by President Trump to impose a worldwide tariff on steel and aluminum imports will have negative consequences on the recreational boating industry. Not only is this proposed tariff poised to ignite a trade war, the 10% tariff on aluminum would be in addition to the Department of Commerce's investigation into dumping of Chinese common alloy sheet aluminum, which is likely to result in a 56% anti-dumping and 40% countervailing duty.
Last year, 111,000 of the new powerboats sold in the U.S. were aluminum based, accounting for 43% of the market and $3 billion in sales. Discussions by trading markets like the European Union to retaliate would jeopardize the entire boating industry and our competitiveness abroad.

Take action now and tell President Trump and Commerce Secretary Ross to reconsider these worldwide tariffs that will have sweeping impacts on 35,000 recreational boating businesses.

      Boating Matters

Boating United is a community of boating businesses, enthusiasts and supporters. Together we shape policy that affects our industry and our interests.

The recreational boating industry supports jobs, economic development and recreational activities for millions of Americans. We're not just weekend boaters; we're employers, manufacturers, taxpayers and citizens who make a difference in all 50 states. Our industry has legislative and regulatory issues that are important. Issues that affect a uniquely domestic industry that reaches millions of businesses, community members and voters.

We can't be ignored by policymakers.

That's why we unite as an industry and let our collective voice be heard in Washington and around the country. To show lawmakers that boating matters.
