Dietary supplements are a cornerstone of health and wellness for millions of Americans, and critical to Making America Healthy Again (MAHA). From filling nutritional gaps to supporting chronic health management, these products are integrated into the daily lives of families, seniors, veterans, and other vulnerable populations. The industry’s dependence on a global supply chain for key ingredients, such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and botanical extracts, is a matter of necessity, not choice. Many of these inputs are unavailable in sufficient quantity or quality within the United States, requiring years of investment and innovation to cultivate domestically. At last calculation, SBA still estimates the industry as over 70% of small businesses.
These tariffs risk serious unintended consequences for public health, supply chain resilience, and the economic vitality of American businesses. I am counting on you to write to your members of Congress and provide public comments to the Federal Register docket by May 7th, urging their support for exempting dietary supplement ingredients from Section 232 tariffs currently under review.
Let Congress know you want them to urge the Department of Commerce to continue exempting dietary supplement ingredients, listed in Annex 2 of Executive Order (EO) 14257, from the Section 232 tariffs currently under review.
