Liquidity: The single biggest issue facing retail
As we fight to survive the economic hardships caused by COVID-19, the single biggest issue facing retail is liquidity. Congress has the opportunity to help get much-needed cash to struggling retailers.

The CARES Act included a provision that allows businesses to carryback their operating losses to years when they were profitable, reduce taxes in those years and get a refund from the IRS. Many retailers and other businesses are suffering severe losses in 2020 but won’t be able to use the carryback provision until they file their 2020 tax return next year.

Tell Congress to help retailers access liquidity by modifying the net operating loss provision in the CARES Act. This will allow struggling retailers to cash out their 2020 operating losses sooner so they can stay in business until customers can safely return to stores
