  As a Nevada REALTORS® member you have an opportunity to make your voice heard in Washington DC. It's free, simple and effective. In 2017, REALTORS® across the country responded to Calls For Action in record numbers regarding Property and Homeowner's Rights issues. Mobile Text Alerts are the free, simple and effective way for you to lend your voice to important REALTOR® issues. Here's how you sign up. First, text the word 'REALTORS' to 30644. Next, hit SEND.
 
The second part of this is also very important. When you receive a text for CALL FOR ACTION, you're just a few clicks from your REALTOR® voice being included with hundreds of thousands of like-minded REALTORS® across the country. Our one REALTOR® voice will be delivered to your Nevada representatives in Washington, DC. That's a powerful voice for our industry!
 
Nevada is already at 88 percent of its goal in terms of members signed up for the MTA service. If you haven't already signed up, please do so.   Save the date!  
  REALTORS® from around the state are set to gather in Las Vegas June 5-6. That's because Nevada REALTORS® will host its first state conference in more than a decade.
 
The event, which offers free registration for Nevada REALTOR® members, will be held at the M Resort in Las Vegas with content and programming focused on the conference's 'REALTOR® of the Future' theme. Stefan Swanepoel, the country's leading real estate trends analyst and author of the Swanepoel Trends Report will be featured as well as XPLODE- a premier, fast paced presentation that forgoes sales pitches in favor of genuinely useful sessions on digital marketing, social media, predictive data and video.
 
Conference registration opens April 1, but is limited so early sign-up is encouraged.   IRS: Interest paid on home equity loans is still deductible under new tax plan  
 

The country's new tax laws, ushered in by President Donald Trump and his Republican counterparts late last year, will bring many changes to the mortgage industry. Namely, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act reduces the available mortgage interest deduction from $1 million to $750,000.

But what's the impact of the tax plan on home equity loans, home equity lines of credit, and second mortgages? Citing the "many" questions it's received from taxpayers and tax professionals, the Internal Revenue Service issued a bulletin this week that sheds some light on how home equity loans, HELOCs, and second mortgages will be treated under the new tax plan.   Application process opens this week for 2019 NAR committees  
 

For REALTOR® members interested in sitting on a 2019 NAR committee, the selection process opens this week. The committee application website will be open March 1 through May 1. NAR members can submit a committee application for up to five committees and seek up to three endorsements per application.
