If you are not registered to vote yet, it's not too late! You have until May 24 to register and be able to vote in this year's primary election. Just go to http://www.registertovotenv.gov and register. It's that simple.

Please keep an eye out for the REALTOR®-friendly voter guide - you will receive the electronic voter guide before early voting starts. Early voting starts on May 26.

TRPA began the Shoreline Strategic Initiative in 2015. The Initiative is to develop a plan that will comprehensively address access (piers, buoys, marinas) to Lake Tahoe. The main focus recently has been towards a buoy program that accounted for each buoy around the Lake. This helps give baseline data for future allocations of new/additional buoys.

Now in year 2 of the Shoreline Strategic Initiative, at TRPA's last Governing Board meeting, the Shoreline Strategic Initiative brought forward the Draft Shorezone Code, "Implementing the Proposed Shoreline Plan" for review and direction. TRPA staff plans to have the final updated code passed and approved through the Governing Board by the end of 2018 for early 2019 implementation. The new proposal changes how many new buoys, piers, marinas, and access structures will be allowed around the Lake and when. The IVR Public Policy Committee has been involved throughout the process so far and will continue to stay engaged.

During the month of May 2018, the Reno/Sparks Association of REALTORS® Political Action Committee (PAC) is again hosting its online auction. Late last month, the Political Advisory Committee met to consider state legislative issues that were identified by GLVAR's Political Affairs Committee during their three months of deliberation of issues for the 2019 state legislative session.

After careful deliberation, discussion and vetting, the Political Advisory Committee narrowed the issues from the Political Affairs Committee down to three as GLVAR's priorities for the 2019 state legislative session.

At that meeting, the Political Advisory Committee had the difficult task of narrowing valid issues presented. Those issues that received a "yes" vote by the Political Advisory Committee moved onto the Nevada REALTORS® Legislative Committee for final consideration.

The three state legislative issues of priority by GLVAR for the 2019 session are:

• Nicknames, advertising and license numbers
• Exemption of the Sellers Real Property Disclosure (SRPD) form, and
• Resale package - electronic dissemination and fees

There are a number of important issues of concern for REALTORS® throughout the state, and your Government Affairs team will keep you updated as your leadership works through the process.
