State Conference returns after 12-year hiatus
Nearly 400 REALTORS® from across Nevada got a chance to take in the first REALTOR® state conference in more than a decade last week. The 2018 Nevada REALTORS® State Conference proved to be a hit June 5-6 at the M Resort in Las Vegas.

The event featured panels on issues affecting real estate in Nevada, specifically marijuana laws and short-term rentals. Technology/best practices programming from the Xplode Conference was a key component. Among the event highlights was a key-note presentation from NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun, who stressed Nevada's housing/real estate market is a healthy one. Real estate industry trends expert Stefan Swanepoel put on an impressive show, illuminating the crowd on the potential impacts of technology on the real estate world over the next 20 years.

"This has just been such an exciting event to bring to the REALTORS® of our state," 2018 Nevada REALTORS® President Heidi Kasama said. "We haven't had this convention for over 12 years and we've had a phenomenal turnout ... We've had amazing speakers. I know people are excited about everything that they've learned. If you were here, you got the best and we want to see you next year too."

Additionally, the conference gave REALTORS® a chance to talk with more than 20 vendors, sharing insights on products and services on everything from home staging and lead generation to improved home air quality and real estate signage.

Coming from New Mexico, this was my first time attending an Xplode Conference; and I loved Stefan Swanepoel and Dr. Yun," said Cathy Colvin, 2018 Region XI RVP. "I just love the networking. The best part about all of these events is the friendships you develop."

Despite a 12-year hiatus for the state conference, Nevada REALTORS® association leadership and staff plan to again start hosting the event on an annual basis. Planning for the 2019 event will begin later this year. Click here to view the entire article and more pictures.

  REALTORS® represented at FTC/DOJ workshop
If a member asks you what the REALTOR® association has done for them recently, here's an easy answer. NAR represented the REALTOR® profession at a workshop hosted by government regulators, raising questions about listing distribution to portals, commissions, and potential barriers to competition in the real estate industry.

This effort involved REALTOR® association advocacy, legal, research and communications teams working together to ensure that each of the three panels at the workshop portrayed a true picture of the industry today - that is, a diverse and robustly competitive marketplace that serves consumers well.
