NVR concludes 2018 with meetings, installation
Nevada REALTORS honored leading members during its annual Installation Gala Friday night in southern Nevada at the SLS Las Vegas. The state association honored long-time industry leader Heidi Kasama as its 2018 Nevada REALTOR® of the Year and recognized others from around the state for their continued service to their association, their profession and their communities.

In addition to announcing its annual industry award winners, the event honored Las Vegas REALTOR® Keith Lynam, who was installed as the 2019 NVR President. Lynam is no stranger to leadership having served as the GLVAR President in 2015. NVR's 2019 Board of Director members were also installed in advance of their upcoming year of service.   Leadership Academy wraps up 2018 with graduation of current class

Leadership Academy, the signature program aimed at fostering leadership in Nevada's REALTOR® ranks, boasted activities aplenty during NVR's annual December meetings. The highlight of the Leadership Academy group's December session was the presentation of its annual class project and graduation ceremony, which was hosted during a brunch event at the SLS Las Vegas on Dec. 7.

The project saw all 14 class members donate their time to develop plans for  and execute Nevada REALTOR® Give Back Day, which was held Sept. 13.  The event saw REALTORS® across the state give back in their communities with efforts that included trash pickup, hosting a BBQ for Boys & Girls Club students and volunteering with senior citizens. The 2018 Class also volunteered for other good causes across the state throughout the year.

The class made its presentation to NVR's Board of Directors. The event also saw the Academy's 14 class members awarded with graduation certificates from dean Tim Kuptz.

  New phishing attempt targets REALTORS
Many National Association of REALTORS® members received a solicitation over the past weekend, purportedly from the REALTOR® Party, asking for donations to fund medical expenses for a young girl. This solicitation is not from the REALTOR® Party or the National Association of REALTORS®. NAR never solicits donations for personal or individual charities.

Let your members know that if they receive this "Help Support Diana Recovery" solicitation, they should delete the email without clicking on any links. Anyone who sent money to a link in the email should file a complaint with the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov. (Copy and paste the URL into your browser.)

The National Association of REALTORS® is working to identify and report the sender. We urge members and state and local association staff to be on alert for email and online fraud. Visit nar.realtor for resources on cyberfraud and cybersecurity best practices.
