 Current and former service members are in many ways the ideal loan recipients, mortgage experts say. That sentiment should boost the confidence of any troops or veterans looking for the best mortgage options for buying their first homes. Number of troops, vets utilizing VA loans has more than doubled

 Military members seem to be warming up to VA loans when buying their first homes, a new report shows. The share of service members using VA mortgage loans instead of conventional ones to purchase their first homes more than doubled from before the housing crisis hit to after the dust settled, according to a report from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Only 30 percent of first-time military home-buyers used VA loans around 2006, with the majority instead relying on conventional real-estate options or other government-funded loans, the report indicated. Click here to continue reading.
