Keegan takes over for retiring Van Winkle on NVR's LIL
Nevada REALTORS® members calling into the association's Legal and Broker Information Lines in recent weeks may have noticed a new voice. Christal Keegan is NVR's new attorney and will be manning both LILs in order to keep members up to date on all real estate legal issues in the Silver State. Keegan formerly worked in compliance for the NCAA and the University of Hawaii.

Keegan takes over for Jim Van Winkle, a former Reno attorney and Municipal Court Judge. Van Winkle had worked for Nevada REALTORS for four years after retiring from the bench. He is now set to enjoy full retirement and focus on travel and family, including his new grandchildren.

"We will miss Jim as he has been an incredible and knowledgeable asset to our team over the past four years," NVR CEO Teresa McKee said. "And yet, we are excited to welcome Christal to our great state association and look forward to all the amazing insights she will share with our members."

The Legal Information Line and Broker Information Line are NVR member benefits. It's a free call to a licensed attorney for Nevada REALTOR® members who have legal questions or need legal information to help in their business. Call today: 800.748.6999.

  September is REALTOR® Safety Month
Knowledge. Awareness. Empowerment. These are the core components of REALTOR® Safety. And helping our members understand the risks they face can mean the difference between life and death. To help remind us to know the dangers we face every day, to be aware of our surroundings, to empower ourselves with precautions and preparations so that we can avoid risky situations, and as part of NAR's ongoing efforts to keep our members safe, we dedicate September as REALTOR® Safety Month.

While this month helps remind us of the importance of REALTOR® Safety, NAR has also developed materials for use throughout year, which can be accessed here. Additionally, NAR's 2019 Safety Report can be found here.

"Working in real estate involves risk and, unfortunately, that risk takes many forms. As an industry, we collectively work very hard to promote safety awareness among our members. We are fully committed to educating REALTORS® about potential threats and providing them with resources to protect themselves."

- 2015 NAR President Chris Polychron
