NVR members represent Silver State at NAR annual.
More than 150 Nevada REALTORS® members made the trek to the Bay Area last week to attend the National Association of REALTORS® Conference and Expo. The event kicked off at San Francisco's Moscone Center last Thursday (Nov. 7) and continued through the weekend with governance meetings, industry-specific classes and presentations and wrapped up Monday with its annual fall Board of Directors meeting.

Forty-three NVR members served on a variety of NAR committees in 2019. Those committees ranged from Consumer Communications and Insurance to Finance and MLS, as well as everything in between. Those committees wrapped up their 2019 work with end-of-the year meetings in recent days. Another highlight of the event was the installation gala of 2020 NAR President Vince Malta. During the ceremony Nevada REALTORS® 2016 President Dave R. Tina was installed as the 2020 Region XI RVP. Click here to read more and see a variety of member pictures from the event.

Marketing a Listing? MLS Submission Will Soon Be a Must
At its Nov. 11 meeting, NAR's Board of Directors approved MLS Statement 8.0, also known as the Clear Cooperation policy. The policy requires listing brokers who are participants in a multiple listing service to submit their listing to the MLS within one business day of marketing the property to the public.

NAR's MLS Technology and Emerging Issues Advisory Board proposed the policy as a way to address the growing use of off-MLS listings. The advisory board concluded that leaving listings outside of the broader marketplace excludes consumers, undermining REALTORS®' commitment to provide equal opportunity to all. The policy doesn't prohibit brokers from taking office-exclusive listings; nor does it impede brokers' ability to meet their clients' privacy needs. Click here to read more.

MLSs have until May 1, 2020, to implement the policy. For more information, visit the MLS Clear Cooperation Proposal page at nar.realtor.

The board also approved a change to NAR's Code of Ethics training requirement. The change extends the training requirement from every two years to every three years and extends the current Cycle 6 deadline from Dec. 31, 2020, to Dec. 31, 2021.   New laws impact landlord/tenant rights, eviction process

SB151 went into effect July 1
By NVR General Counsel Tiffany Banks
Many of our Nevada REALTORS® members are already aware of the significant changes to landlord/tenant law as of July 1, 2019. The way landlords and property managers in Nevada deal with evicting a tenant will be changed in a big way.

SB151 also has an impact on investors and how they do business in Nevada, or if they even want to continue to do so. We will touch on some of these changes, what we know and what we don't know. We will also keep you updated in the coming weeks as we learn more. Now that these laws are in effect, the question is, how will courts interpret these laws? Click here to read all the details. You can also click here and watch the latest Legal Minute video on the subject.
