  NVR staff working for members
  Dear NVR Members,

Nevada REALTORS® is committed now more than ever during this unprecedented time to providing the absolute best advocacy, leadership and excellence to and for all of our members. We, at Nevada REALTORS® have been actively engaged in discussions with the Governor's office, Attorney General's office, Nevada Real Estate Division, Justice Court Judges, the National Association of REALTORS® and many more, engaging in a dialogue that best represents our members' concerns.

Our CEO, Teresa McKee, has taken part in strategic planning with NVR Leadership, state government, the Real Estate Division Administrator and others, paving the way for our industry to navigate these times with other REALTOR® AE's. Our General Counsel, Tiffany Banks, has been collaborating with REALTOR® association attorney colleagues across the country, as well as participating in Zoom brokerage office meetings, providing the most up-to-date information for agents. Our Government Affairs team, Carrara Nevada, has been working directly with top state government officials, the NAR Congressional delegation and others on the coronavirus aid, relief and economic security act. Our communications staff has compiled the newest and best information and resources for our members, as well as created a COVID-19 resources page on our website (NevadaRealtors.org) as a place to access important information.. If you are interested in inviting Banks, NVR's general counsel, to participate remotely in one of your office meetings over the next few weeks, please email her directly at Tiffany@NVRealtors.org.

Additionally, I'd like to thank Nevada's five local real estate associations, specifically, their staff and leadership, for all the hard work and vital information they have been disseminating to members about local markets and best practices. We are working through trying times, but we are all better for the teamwork we are exhibiting across the state.

Please remember real estate is an essential service, but that does not mean business as usual. Nevada REALTORS® urges you to use safe practices in all business dealings, reducing physical contact as much as possible by using alternate methods of performing your duties for your clients. Technology cannot replace the great agent, but great agents will use technology to serve their client.

Information changes daily, and I urge you to continue to watch for updates and continue to reach out to your colleagues to share the latest information. See below for information on the SPECIAL EDITION ENEWS - PART II, coming tomorrow.

Sincerely
Chris Bishop
2020 Nevada REALTORS® President

LEGAL: Eviction Moratorium and Mortgage Forbearance

By NVR General Counsel Tiffany Banks

The purpose of Governor Sisolak's housing stability press conference on Sunday March 29, was to provide comfort in a chaotic time.  Many workers have lost jobs because of COVID-19, and the hardworking families who have lost income are looking for the basic necessity of a roof over their head.

The Governor has signed an emergency moratorium on ALL evictions in Nevada. The goal is not to transfer a hardship from one party to another and while it is important to protect tenants, Governor Sisolak also wants to protect homeowners and businesses. His intent is to keep people in homes. Click here to read the outlined points related to the moratorium on evictions.

NAR commends protections for REALTORS®, consumers in relief bill

As the House of Representatives' voted last week to send a historic COVID-19 relief package to President Trump, the National Association of Realtors® published a comprehensive guide to the $2 trillion, 880-page bill educating Realtors® on the many benefits secured by NAR. The nation's largest trade association is also offering separate, evolving guidance to help its members navigate the crisis.

Click here to read the PDF document released by NAR outlining the provisions for REALTORS® and their documents. IMPORTANT: the document offers a section titled "Unemployment Benefits for Self-Employed." These benefits will be administered by the states, in accordance with the new Federal law. This legislation is just days old and a benefits distribution format has not been finalized in Nevada. NVR will forward that information as soon as it is released by the state.
