  What to look for when verifying contractor license information

Hiring licensed contractors for residential or commercial construction projects should be a standard practice for any property owner. Whether making minor repairs to the property, having annual inspections performed on essential systems, or planning a more extensive home renovation project, verifying and hiring only licensed contractors can help reduce the risk and liability of owners throughout the course of the project.
 
Held accountable to Nevada construction and building laws, licensed contractors have demonstrated knowledge of their trade and industry standards, as well as the requirements expected of them when performing construction-related services within the State of Nevada.  Although limited exceptions may apply, contractors are generally responsible for maintaining a workers' compensation insurance policy, a cash or surety bond, and are required to provide owners of each project with certain disclosures. Judges, NVR attorneys to host webinar and share most current information regarding state's eviction moratorium

Nevada REALTORS® members who are property managers please take note. NVR is hosting a webinar update on the Nevada's eviction moratorium. NVR General Counsel Tiffany Banks and NVR Property Management Committee Chair Molly Hamrick will host the event. The association has also invited Justice Court Judges from northern and southern Nevada to participate as well.

The webinar is set for Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. to review the rules and practices as we continue to navigate evictions during COVID. This upcoming 45-minute Zoom webinar is part of a continuing series of webinars offered to help NVR members work their way through the various phases of reopening Nevada. Click here to register.

You may never be happier to see a year end. But as you turn the page from 2020 and start to create your 2021 business plan, consider these tips for setting new goals and harnessing your database. If you already have a business plan for next year, start implementing it now using some suggested scripts for calls to past clients in the new year.

"The biggest challenge for most agents is reaching out to clients who they haven't talked to in a long time," says Monica Reynolds, vice president of Keller Williams Realty's coaching division. While the real estate market is cooking across much of the country, no past client or lead should be taken for granted. Reynolds touts the acronym RER: relationships, experience, results. "In this day and age, everyone has a lot of choices; it's about the relationship," she says.
