Stop the Flavored Tobacco 'Ban'wagon!
Dear New York Retailer:

Among all the other bad policies the New York State Legislature is considering in 2020, there is a huge and immediate threat to your tobacco category -- a potential ban on menthol cigarettes, flavored cigars, flavored smokeless product, and all other tobacco flavors.

In Albany, the Democratic majorities in the Senate and Assembly are trying to exploit public hysteria surrounding vaping illnesses caused by illicit product your stores don't sell, to ram through legislation permanently banning all flavored tobacco products in New York State!

Such a ban on flavored tobacco in neighboring Massachusetts passed in the fall of 2019, driving thousands of smokers to border states and online vendors while sharply reducing Massachusetts convenience stores sales and customer counts, crippling the retail industry. We can't let that happen here.

DON'T WAIT. Engage now. Use this NYACS grassroots advocacy system to tell your state legislators you oppose this action, and that it will only backfire on the state. Have each of your employees do the same. Thank you.

Jim Calvin, President
New York Association of Convenience Stores
