These journalists and media workers not only deserve our thanks and appreciation, they deserve a lasting acknowledgement of their sacrifice.
In June, a bi-partisan group of U.S. Senators and Representatives introduced S. 1969 / H.R. 3465, “The Fallen Journalists Memorial Act of 2019.” If enacted by Congress, the Act would authorize the Fallen Journalists Memorial Foundation to raise private funds to build a monument to our lost colleagues in Washington, D.C.
The Alliance believes this memorial will be an important reminder for the public of the journalists and their colleagues whose lives were lost serving their country, and those who continue to risk their lives every day to deliver critical information to their communities. Please join your colleagues in the news industry to push for the passage of “The Fallen Journalists Memorial Act of 2019” by contacting your elected representatives in the House and the Senate and ask that they sign on as co-sponsors of the legislation. It is our hope that the legislation can be enacted before the end of the year.
