Urge Congress to Pass Final Bill on Cancer Research Funding and Early Detection!
The Congressional Appropriations Committees have released a combined FY2026  Defense/Labor, Health and Human Services bill—and it includes several critical investments and policy provisions that would significantly strengthen the federal response to ovarian and other gynecologic cancers.

This bill represents meaningful progress for our community, but it is not final. Congress must act swiftly to advance and enact this legislation, and advocates’ voices are essential right now.

What’s at Stake for the Ovarian Cancer Community

The FY2026 bill would bolster ovarian and gynecologic cancer research, education, and early detection through:

  • $50 million for the Department of Defense Ovarian Cancer Research Program (OCRP) to support innovative research into prevention, early detection, and treatment
  • $12.5 million for Johanna’s Law, sustaining nationwide education and awareness efforts focused on symptoms and risk factors
  • $15 million for the Ovarian Cancer Control Initiative, expanding access to care, survivorship support, and public health programs
  • Inclusion of the Multi-Cancer Early Detection (MCED) legislation, creating a pathway for coverage of emerging early detection technologies

These investments reflect growing recognition in Congress of the urgent and unmet needs facing people impacted by ovarian cancer.

Why Your Voice Matters Now

While the Appropriations Committees have taken an important step, the bill must still move through Congress and be enacted into law. Without strong advocacy, these critical funding levels and policy provisions could be delayed, reduced, or removed.

Take Action Today

Congress needs to hear directly from constituents that ovarian cancer research, education, and early detection must remain a national priority.

Urge your Members of Congress to vote to pass the FY2026 appropriations bill with full funding for ovarian cancer programs and inclusion of the MCED legislation.

Together, we can help ensure sustained federal leadership that drives research progress, expands education, and improves outcomes for everyone affected by ovarian and gynecologic cancers.
