Join in Praying the Assumption Novena

Prayerfully prepare for the Pilgrimage to the Basilica & National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, OH with the Assumption Novena. It begins today, August 6, and goes through Wednesday, August 14, 2024. 

A livestream of the daily prayers with reflections from Bishop Earl K. Fernandes is available on the Our Lady of Consolation - Carey, Ohio Facebook page at 8pm ET each day (2pm on Sunday, August 11 and Wednesday, August 14). The videos will also be posted on their YouTube page the following day. 

Pilgrimage Details

To mark this year of going out on mission during the National Eucharistic Revival, the Catholic Bishops of Ohio invite all the faithful to make a pilgrimage to Carey, Ohio, for the Vigil of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Planning Your Pilgrimage
Carey is within 200 miles of most Ohio towns. Thousands of people are expected to attend the Vigil Mass, so we recommend arriving early to allow for traffic and parking. Pilgrims can visit the breathtaking Upper Basilica, venerate multiple relics in the Lower Basilica, and go to Confession.

What to Bring
In addition to coming with an open heart, we recommend bringing the following items, as the Vigil Mass will be outside:

  • A Rosary for the Procession
  • Blanket or Folding Lawn Chair
  • Poncho or Umbrella (if rain is in the forecast)

 

Where to Stay
Pilgrims can camp in tents or campers near the Basilica. There are hotels available in the nearby cities of Upper Sandusky (13 miles), Findlay (16.6 miles), and Tiffin (18.6 miles).
