This important legislation is advancing forward in both chambers, and we continue to need your grassroots support.
The legislation is a legislative fix that will ensure a seasonal camper’s personal property located within your licensed campground is treated the same as any other personal property that became permanently exempted from property taxation starting in 2024 with the passage of Act 12.
This action to clarify existing legislation will be a win for the seasonal camping consumer, and a win for all privately-owned campground small businesses in Wisconsin. It is what the legislature intended in the repeal of the personal property tax starting in 2024.
Legislation has been introduced by Rep. Kevin Petersen (R-Waupaca) and Sen. Rachael Cabral-Guevara (R- Appleton) to clarify that previously assessed personal property owned by a seasonal camper but parked in a licensed recreational campground is exempt from real property tax.
We need you to tell your state legislators to support of this legislation (SB 576 and AB 584).
