The U.S. cannot look away. The U.S. government has determined that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are committing genocide, and that both the RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces are responsible for widespread war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Congress is considering legislation to halt the flow of arms into Sudan and increase pressure to end the war. The Stand Up for Sudan Act (HR 2509 and S 935) was introduced by Sen. Chris Van Hollen and Rep. Sara Jacobs. It is a bill that would stop the U.S. from selling weapons to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) unless the UAE stops sending weapons to the RSF fighters in Sudan. The bill uses U.S. arms sales as leverage to pressure the UAE to stop helping fuel the war. It’s a way for the U.S. to take a stand against atrocities and help push for peace in Sudan.
We must act now. Urge your representative and senators to support these efforts, protect life-saving humanitarian aid, and press for a just and lasting peace in Sudan. Lives are hanging in the balance.
