Today, those commitments are at risk. The Trump administration’s rescissions package would slash funding for critical aid programs—cuts the House narrowly passed and the Senate advanced with a tie-breaking vote. The package now returns to the House for final consideration.
If enacted, these cuts would endanger programs that provide food, healthcare, peacebuilding, and humanitarian relief—undermining global stability and worsening conflict, displacement, famine, and poverty. Foreign aid is not wasteful spending; it is a moral obligation and a wise investment in a safer, healthier world.
As Presbyterians, we also affirm the United States’ role in funding the United Nations’ peacekeeping, humanitarian, and diplomatic work—contributions this package puts in jeopardy.
We urge you to contact your U.S. Representatives today. Tell them to reject the rescissions package and protect vital programs that reflect our faith’s call to justice, compassion, and global responsibility.
