Our healthcare system relies on team-based, patient-centered care to ensure that patients receive accurate diagnoses, comprehensive treatment plans, and coordinated care. Physicians complete years of additional medical training compared to CRNPs, equipping them to handle complex cases and provide the highest level of expertise.
Remember: POMA negotiated in good faith for 9 months in 2020 and came to an agreement with the CRNPs that would permit a 6-year pilot program for CRNPs practicing in underserved areas without physician oversight. However, the CRNPs reneged on that deal and went back on their word. The CRNPs made a deal but want to forget their commitment and push for full independent practice right instead. CRNPs should need to live by the deal they made, not try to wait, and hope that enough people forget that they went back on their word and continue this position to this day.
POMA urges it members to contact their legislators and the Governor to ask them to oppose CRNP independent practice and protect the integrity of Pennsylvania’s healthcare system. Tell your legislators to stand for physician-led care today!
