It’s that time of the year when members of Congress head for the exits of Capitol Hill and return to their states and districts for the August recess. Throughout August, we will be promoting action alerts on various priority issues to encourage you to take action by emailing your members of Congress. We also hope that you will use this information during townhalls or other events your members might be hosting during the recess.  Below is a schedule of action alerts for you to act on through the beginning of September. 

• August 16-20—VA Clothing Allowance Improvement Act (H.R. 4772/S. 2513)
• August 23-27— AUTO for Veterans Act (H.R. 1361/S. 444) and CARS for Vets Act (H.R. 3304)
• August 30-September 6—Air Carrier Access Amendments Act (H.R. 1696/S. 642)

Once members of Congress return from the August recess, they will have lots of work ahead of them. They will need to fund the government for the new fiscal year, which starts on October 1, and raise the debt ceiling. We also have possible action on a proposed $3.5 T reconciliation bill.
