Take Action: Ask Your Members of Congress to Support Additional Auto Grants for Paralyzed Veterans
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs currently provides eligible veterans with a one-time automobile grant in the amount of $21,488.29.

The grant helps with the purchase of a new or used automobile to accommodate a veteran or service member with certain disabilities that resulted from a condition incurred or aggravated during active military service.

Unfortunately, the average useful life of a modified vehicle is about 11.5 years and it costs tens of thousands of dollars to replace it.

These substantial costs, coupled with inflation, present a tremendous financial hardship for many disabled veterans who need to replace their primary mode of transportation once it reaches the end of its useful service life.

H.R. 1361 and S. 444, the “AUTO for Veterans Act,” would help lessen the financial burden and expand access to transportation for disabled veterans by allowing qualifying veterans to receive an additional Automobile Grant, every ten years.
