In the time since the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, large swaths of the country have struggled to access essential reproductive health care. Many states have implemented restrictions on abortion care; as of March, there are 14 states where no clinics are providing abortion care and more states seeking bans as well. This means millions of people in the U.S. are without the power to decide if, when, and under what circumstances to have children. And we know the burden is falling hardest on people who already face systemic health, racial, and economic discrimination.
We urgently need the Women’s Health Protection Act, a federal law that re-establishes a nationwide right to abortion and would also block the medically unnecessary restrictions states have placed on abortion care for decades. Please contact your members of Congress today and ask them to co-sponsor WHPA—or thank them if they have already done so!
