On Friday, April 3rd, the Trump-Vance Administration released the president's budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2027. The budget recommends cuts or total elimination of programs that support reproductive well-being and access to healthcare. This includes the proposed elimination of programs such as the Title X Family Planning Program (Title X), and the Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) Program while also maintaining abortion riders such as the Hyde and Weldon Amendments.
At a time are struggling to access basic health care, the Trump-Vance administration is once again weaponizing the president's budget to undermine care, all while maintaining and even increasing funding for harmful programs and agencies such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). As congressional appropriators consider the proposed budget and begin to craft funding bills, we urge them to support policies and programs that work towards reproductive well-being. Specifically, they must:
- Provide increased funding and support for the Title X Family Planning Program;
- Provide increased funding and support for the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program;
- Eliminate funding for the harmful Sexual Risk Avoidance Program;
- Remove anti-abortion policy riders such as the Hyde and Weldon Amendments; and
- Including health extenders to reauthorize programs like the Personal Responsibility and Education Program (PREP).
Contact your legislators, and tell them to support these and other policies that support reproductive well-being in FY27 appropriations.
