On June 9th, in a vote of 34-28, the House Appropriations Committee marked up and approved its FY27 Labor, Health, and Human Services, Education & Related Agencies (Labor-H) bill. The bill eliminates programs that support reproductive well-being and access to healthcare. This includes the elimination of the Title X Family Planning Program (Title X), the Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) Program., and increased funding for abstinence-only until marriage sexual risk avoidance programs. This is all while the bill maintains abortion riders such as the Hyde and Weldon Amendments.
All this comes as the Trump-Vance Administration targeted TPP last year, and is currently proposing to remake the Title X program into a funding stream for crisis pregnancy centers (fake clinics).
At a time when people are struggling to access sexual and reproductive healthcare, policymakers should increase funding for programs like Title X and TPP—not eliminate them!
Contact your legislators and tell them to increase not eliminate funding for Title X and TPP in FY27 appropriations.
