Urge Your Senators to Pass the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA)

We know that when people can make decisions about whether and when to become a parent, they are more likely to attain their educational goals, have job mobility, and achieve economic security.

But since 2011, nearly 500 laws restricting and banning abortion have passed across the country, causing significant challenges. On September 1, 2021, a Texas law went into effect banning abortion after 6 weeks—before most people even know they are pregnant—effectively overturning Roe v. Wade for people in Texas. The burdens of these restrictions fall hardest on people with low incomes, people of color, and those from rural areas. This means abortion care is not accessible to everyone.

The Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) would block these harmful laws and ensure everyone has the access to abortion care they deserve. WHPA passed the House of Representatives after an historic vote (218-211) on September 24—and now we need the Senate to act.

Please contact your Senators now and urge them to vote for WHPA—we need it more than ever.
