Support $30 million in the State Budget for YMCA Capital Projects
Join us in support of our New York State YMCA's. As the state is in the final steps of finalizing a budget, we ask that it include $30 million in state support for YMCA capital projects.
We support $30 million in the State Budget for YMCA capital projects as it is an economic driver that will provide services and job training opportunities for New Yorkers. This proposal leverages private funds, as the Y's will provide a match of $3 in private funds for every $1 received in public funds to make these projects a reality.
The Y is an established part of the nonprofit community in New York State and partners with local governments, school districts and a variety of other charitable organizations to strengthen communities and families statewide. In fact, for every $1 invested in a nonprofit, $3 in services are returned to the local economy. The 20 YMCAs with capital projects listed below would generate over $100 million in construction projects. Furthermore, for every $1 spent in construction, $7 circulates into the local economy. Capital project funding to the YMCA is not just an investment in a charitable nonprofit but is also an investment in our communities.
We support a 1:3 match of public to private funds, as it is a responsible way to support economic growth throughout the state by supporting an organization that serves our communities daily, and ask that you support it as well.
